Our Review

About the book

Joe Dispenza argues that meditation, focused intention and practices for managing emotion can change body and mind in ways most people would call impossible. He combines guided meditations, case stories from his workshops, and explanations drawn from neuroscience, epigenetics and quantum-flavored metaphysics.

Our review

An ambitious meditation manual that mixes useful practice with scientific claims the evidence cannot support.

Dispenza’s central promise is huge: change your inner state deliberately and you change your biology and maybe your circumstances too. The most useful parts of the book are its practical ones. The guided meditations are clearly structured, the breathwork is laid out step by step, and he understands why people stay stuck in the same emotional loops. Readers who already meditate will find a demanding routine here, and some will find it energizing.

The trouble comes whenever he leaves practice for proof. Brain scans, heart-rate coherence and the pineal gland get pulled into a story that runs well ahead of the research, and the quantum vocabulary does more to dazzle than to explain. The workshop testimonials are moving, but they are anecdotes chosen to persuade. We came away with a meditation habit worth trying and a long list of claims we would not repeat to a doctor.

What we loved

  • Detailed, repeatable meditation instructions
  • A sharp sense of how emotional habits keep us stuck
  • Real enthusiasm that some readers will find motivating

Keep in mind

  • Scientific claims often go well beyond the evidence
  • Long, repetitive, and heavy on workshop testimonials

Read it if you like

Readers who liked You Are the Placebo or The Biology of Belief, and committed meditators who want an intensive program.

The verdict

Worth reading for the practice, not the physics. Keep the meditations and question the miracles.
