Our Review
About the book
Brian Tracy’s guide argues that most success, financial and personal, comes from habits formed deliberately over time. It covers habits around goal setting, work, money, health, relationships and character, with practical exercises for replacing unproductive patterns with more effective ones.
Our review
Brian Tracy’s habit playbook packs decades of seminar wisdom into one practical, if familiar, toolkit.
Tracy’s premise is straightforward: successful people are not necessarily smarter, they simply run on better habits. The book works through those habits area by area, covering goals, time, money, health, relationships and character, and closes chapters with action steps. We liked how concrete it is; this is a book designed to be used, not just read. For readers new to personal development, it offers a solid, organized overview of the field’s core ideas.
For anyone who has read Tracy before, though, much of it will feel like a rerun of his other books and talks. The examples lean heavily on sales and business, and the cheerful certainty that the right habits guarantee wealth can feel simplistic. It also predates much of the newer research on habit formation, so readers wanting the science behind behavior change may prefer more recent titles.
What we loved
- Organized, practical action steps
- Covers many areas of life in one place
- Encouraging, no-nonsense tone
Keep in mind
- Overlaps heavily with Tracy’s other books
- Light on the science of habit formation

The verdict
A useful starter kit for building better habits, though seasoned self-help readers will find little new.
